Over the past couple of years Liquid Steel Sessions and Bangerang have asserted themselves as two of the best club nights in Leeds, bringing collectively names such as Netsky, Congo Natty, Chef, Yasmin, Oneman, Lil Silva, Sticky, Camo & Crooked, The Heatwave and many other big acts to Leeds. With both nights having such solid reputations we thought it would be great to bring them together for a vs night of epic proportions, but this time its all in aid of charity.

Lurka (Box Clever)

A relatively new face to the dubstep scene, Lurka is causing quite the stir.
His unique, dark, atmospheric productions have lead to him receiving huge DJ support from the likes of Youngsta and Seven, and have also found him collaborating with up and coming prodcuers District, Sleepa and Commodo. His first release Tempted on Box Clever has been smashing up raves and with more releases in the pipeline Lurka is definitely the name to watch out for in 2011.

Goli & Ashburner (Get Darker / Kraken / Ministry of Sound)

Widely regarded as two of the most established artists in dubstep to come out of the Midlands, Goli & Ashburner have spent the last year taking their sound and their label (For The Win) all over the UK and beyond. Having played for some of the biggest nights all over the world and also being a regular fixture at Outlook Festival, Croatia these two producers have solidly cemented themselves within the scene. With a number of releases due over 2011 and a busy gigging schedule to boot, these guys are more than ready to bring their mixture of grime and dubstep to Leeds for some bass driven fun times.

For The Win Endorsed DJ Competition: More Info Inside

Would you like the opportunity to play for two of Leeds biggest and most established independent nights?

 Well now is your chance, on the 4th May Liquid Steel Sessions will be going head to head for the first time with Bangerang, and we are giving one lucky winner a chance to play.

To enter this competition you first need to send a 30 - 40 minute mix to:

lssvsbangerangcomp@hotmail.co.uk(all styles are accepted) 

Then on the 6th March, four DJ's will be selected to perform live in the final, which will be held at Pulse, in conjunction with the BPM society on the 21st March.

In the final each DJ will be given a half hour slot to try and impress the judges and at the end of the night, one DJ will be selected to perform at LSS vs Bangerang on the 4th May.

The maker of 'Lighter,' one of the biggest instrumentals on the UK funky scene,Champion, will be warming up proceedings in Room Three and to continue the sterling run of exclusive and reload worthy content here on the fabric Blog from the Butterz he's put together a mini mix displaying a fistful of his unreleased material and bits from Toddska (Toddla T and Roska), DJ Naughty and the Hyperdub signed Funkystepz.

A DJ primarily - "bashment, rare groove and everything" - it wasn't until the 20 year old, Hackney resident Champion heard UK funky that he found a sound he became hooked on. A grime producer first, he's assuredly found his feet within funky, remixing a lot of people and receiving a deservedly high level of props for his heavily percussive sound. With his breakout tune 'Lighter' getting a VIP remix and a full release, along with his tune 'Motherboard,' on Terror Danjah's Harddrive imprint next month, it seems like the perfect time to introduce a player described by Elijah as the "2011 prince of the funky scene."

Introducing: Mac Art
